Peter C. Newman – The Secret Mulroney tapes
The unguarded confessions of a Prime Minister, is exactly what author Peter C. Newman captured in a series of taped interviews with Brian Mulroney and has published in his new book The Secret Mulroney Tapes. The book is a must read for fans of Canadian politics, full of hard-hitting one-liners by the former PM, featuring no holds barred and very candid look at what really goes on behind the scenes in Ottawa.
Chuck Klosterman – Killing Yourself to Live
Chuck Klosterman is a writer that interprets the world through the lens of popular culture. His first two books "Fargo Rock City" and " Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs" have given him a healthy fan base; and he doesn't disappoint with his new novel " Killing Yourself to Live". In the book, Klosterman, also a writer for Spin music magazine, is given the assignment of visiting sites where famous rock stars met untimely deaths and maybe discover something profound.
James Van Praagh
Do you believe in ghosts? Or do you think it's a load of malarkey? Skeptic or not, we sat down with James Van Praagh who is widely recognized by believers as one of the world's foremost clairvoyants. He is the author of 5 best selling books including Talking to Heaven and Reaching to Heaven and many TV credits and appearances to his name.
Chuck Palahnuik – The Haunted
If Chuck's name doesn't ring a bell, maybe his most famous book might - "Fight Club". Palahnuik's latest novel The Haunted consists of 23 spooky tales... well, spooky may be a bit of an understatement. They are 23 in fact of the most 'appallingly entertaining' stories that will make your stomach churn with horror and are told through the eyes of people at a Writer's Retreat that morphed into a sort of nightmare version of the reality show Survivor. We met up with Chuck while he was in Toronto promoting his latest masterpiece.
Anne Rice's New Orleans Revisited
Anne Rice, author of the Vampire Chronicles, recently appeared on CNN lamenting the disaster of New Orleans. Though Anne lives in California now, the crescent city is in her soul, as it is with so many other artists such as Gertude Stein, who once spoke about New Orleans stating "It's a city stuffed with ambience, bursting at the scenes with color and flavor and sound." A couple of years ago Book TV traveled to Louisianna to meet Anne Rice and to take a literary tour of the Big Easy. We take a look back at the great city as a reminder of what has been lost or spoilt.
