Michael Baigent Even though the authors of The Holy Blood and The Holy Grail lost the copyright infringement case against Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code there is no denying that the success of Holy Blood opened the door for all-kinds of re-interpretations of religious history. Now Michael Baigent, one of the three authors behind Holy Blood, continues the conspiracy theories with his latest effort The Jesus Papers, which contends that Jesus, in collusion with Pontius Pilate, never died on the cross.
The Knights Templars The Knights Templars, so often named in Christian conspiracy theories, guarded the routes of religious pilgrims in the middle ages. One route they looked after was The Camino de Santiago de Compostela or The Way of St. James that crosses France into Northern Spain. It remains a pilgrimage route to this day. Sue Kenney, a woman from Ontario who had reached a cross roads in her life, decided to take the pilgrimage. The result – a changed life and resulted in the book My Camino.
Rudy Wiebe Of This Earth: A Mennonite Boyhood in the Boreal Forest is the latest work by Rudy Wiebe. Mr. Wiebe’s impact on the Canadian writing scene has been as monumental. A two time Governor General Award winner, Wiebe grew up in the Canadian wilderness as part of a pacifist religious sect and with this book takes us back to his childhood in Speedwell, Saskatchewan and the Mennonite community.
