Show #6-17 – April 22, 2007
Gang Culture
Most people think that the world of gangs and gun crime is an issue that exists largely south of the border. But the startling reality is that Canada has its own ghettos, its own poverty, and a very real and growing relationship with gang culture and violence. It's not surprising then, that we have two new books Young Thugs, and Enter the Babylon System, both taking an in-depth look into a growing subculture that most would choose to believe does not exist.
Dominatrix
Susan Winemaker grew up in Toronto. She majored in philosophy and trained in the culinary arts in Montreal. Her travels took her to London, where desperate for a job, she became a dominatrix, servicing an array of clients from priests to TV personalities. Susan turned the experiences into a book, Concertina - The Life and Loves of a Dominatrix, that documents not just the events, but also an understanding of role-playing and sexual energy.
