Au Pied de Cochon - L'Album
Martin Picard is one of Canada's most respected chefs but when he decided to write a book he didn't bother to look for a publisher. He and his restaurant staff were then free to create something truly unconventional, a restaurant family album complete with homemade cartoons, candid pictures and a DVD.
The Donut: A Canadian History
What began as a PhD thesis slowly developed into a book about how Canada's favourite snack food became tied up with issues of national identity. Steve Penfold, an assistant professor of history at York University, spent a sweet 10 years dissecting the donut.
